The looming Geneva threat

Successive governments owed explanations why a confidential UN report that dealt with the Vanni offensive had never been used in the defence of our armed forces. Although, the UN has publicly acknowledged the existence of the report, it is not yet in public domain. The UN acknowledged the report dealt with the situation in the Vanni during August, 2008, to May 13, 2009. The report placed the number of persons killed, and wounded, during this period at 7,721 and 18,479 respectively. There cannot be a better detailed account than the UN report as it was based on information provided by NGOs, ICRC, as well as numerous other sources trapped in the war zone.
